000503: Serging Outside the Box + Getting More from Your Serger

If your serger  is still in its box, you’re not serging! Let’s kickstart those good intentions of buying your serger and learn how you can use it.  Students will learn how to thread their serger and how to achieve balanced tension stitches. Bring your accessories so you can learn what you can do with them.

Part two of this class is all about getting the most from your serger . Bring your machine to find out how to do a rolled hem, flat lock, and some other useful stitches to help you create professionally finished or decorated projects with your serger.

Requirements: Serger in good working condition (no machines older than 10 years, please); owner’s manual; all accessories and power cord and power pedal; four cones of serger/overlock thread in four different colors (to identify the colors used in the threading paths on your machine -primary colors work best: red, blue, yellow, green); 2 fat quarters of The French Seam’s quilting cotton (solid color or simple print is best) and a quarter yard of knit jersey; a pen or pencil and paper for note taking.
