000201: Garment Foundations - The Scout Tee/Top by Grainline Studios
Part of our Garment Foundations series, the Scout Tee/Top from Grainline Studios is an excellent project for a beginner. Create a simple top to complete your ensemble with the Scout Tee/Top. Made out of a light weight woven fabric, it’s great for a casual look or can also be a staple layering piece. In class you’ll learn how to take your measurements, select the correct pattern size, and learn a few seam finishes for a professional look. This tee project includes learning how to apply neck binding and how to set in a short sleeves.
Techniques learned: making and applying bias facing, setting sleeves, and finishing a basic hem.
Fabric options: most light or medium weight woven fabrics will work well for this project.
Cost: $75 for the two-week course. This course requires a pattern and supplies which will need to be purchased at The French Seam as well. The French Seam provides sewing machines and basic sewing notions to use during the class. Students must have taken the Intro to Modern Sewing Course or have the equivalent knowledge of sewing fundamentals in order to take this class.

Since 1997, Deb?s had a custom sewing and sewing instruction business. Deb is a member of the American Sewing Guild, the Sewing Professionals Network of Indiana, and is a trained sewing instructor of the Home Sewing Association. Though her forte is making garments, she loves all things sewing.
